Learn Spanish while traveling to a dystopian and futuristic Madrid
“Tears in the Rain” is a novel by Rosa Montero that immerses you in the conflicts between humans and replicators in the near future. With simple words and without complicated literary formulas, this book will help you to strengthen your language comprehension skills.

In a future in which technology has managed to create androids with the ability to feel and be moved like everyone else, the threat of a human supremacist conspiracy puts us under the watchful eye of Detective Bruna Husky. This apparently independent and not very empathic replicator will do her best to unravel what is happening with the waves of deaths and suicides that are happening in strange and similar circumstances.

Rosa Montero draws us in “Tears in the Rain”, a detective novel full of mystery and intrigue that takes place in a dystopian Madrid of the year 2109. The Spanish journalist develops in this obvious tribute to Blade Runner – and to Philip K. Dick’s novel “Do androids dream of electric sheep?” which in turn inspired Ridley Scott’s acclaimed film – a world in which social inequalities have become so acute that they have to pay for clean air and racial or gender segregation has shifted to species discrimination, threatening the coexistence of human and techno-human beings, colloquially known as reps.

In 2012, the author was awarded the AFDE (Association pour la Diffusion de L’Espagnol) prize for the usefulness of her texts – both journalistic and literary – in teaching Spanish in France. A good review for those who are looking for something to read, to improve their understanding of our language. The novel has a direct and uncomplicated style that never leaves aside artistic quality and good expression.

What does the title of the novel mean or refer to? Encourage yourself to read this intense tale of deceit, things that seem to be what they are not and mystery to discover the answer and know the importance of both remembrance and memory.

“Tears in the rain” is a work that every science fiction lover will enjoy placidly and will allow all non-followers of this genre to dive into it and begin to explore new horizons. A very entertaining work of little difficulty that will help you to continue taking steps in your learning of Spanish.

Learn Spanish while traveling to a dystopian and futuristic Madrid.
